History of the PSC Girls Holiday Classic (2006–2023)

2006–2014: Round‑Robin Format
The PSC Girls Holiday Classic began in 2006 as a four‑team round‑robin event. Each team played the other three once, and the champion was determined by the best overall record. With no true championship game, it was possible for a team to lose its final matchup and still win the tournament. Tiebreak procedures were used whenever teams finished with identical records.

2015–2023: Traditional Four‑Team Tournament
In 2015, the event transitioned to a conventional bracket format featuring two first‑round games, followed by a championship game and a consolation game. This structure created a more familiar tournament atmosphere with a clear path to the title.

Post‑2023: PSC Holiday Shootout
After the 2023 season, the tournament format was discontinued and replaced by the PSC Holiday Shootout. The Shootout still features the four local programs, but each team now plays a single game against an out‑of‑area opponent, with matchups changing annually. PSC continues to sponsor the event as a holiday showcase for girls’ basketball.
