ORGANIZATION

The Minutemen Youth Football League is an association of interested and concerned citizens of the North Spencer County School District working toward the common goal of establishing and maintaining a quality youth football program. This association annually establishes a board of directors who in turn appoint a league commissioner.

PHILOSOPHY

  • To provide young people with the opportunity to learn new skills, build self-esteem, learn good sportsmanship and teamwork, improve physical development and have fun learning the game of football by playing it.
  • To provide an enjoyable football program for our youth, parents and fans.
  • To teach that striving to win through friendly competition with good sportsmanship is more important than winning itself.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors shall consist of at least one representative of each of North Spencer’s Elementary School Districts and one or more at large representative. In addition, any current or former coach who has completed at least 5 years of coaching in the league shall automatically be included on the Board of Directors if they choose.

LEAGUE COMMISSIONER

A League Commissioner is elected annually by the association’s Board of Directors.  The Commissioner shall be responsible for scheduling league meetings, scheduling and advertisement of registrations, securing practice and game sites, scheduling officials for games, overseeing the coaching function, ordering, inventory and off-season storage of equipment, and other miscellaneous duties as prescribed by the league’s Board of Directors.

DISTRIBUTION OF PLAYERS

For the best development of every child participating in the league, players will be assigned to a team. Players will be evaluated b the same standards, prior to be assigned to a team. Players will be asked to conduct a 30 yard dash, an agility test, and catch passes thrown to them by the coaching staff. After players are evaluated, teams will be selected using a draft style format and each player will be contacted by the coaching staff. Every attempt will be made to distribute the players equally so each player will have the potential to achieve the most out of the league.
